How to Choose the Right University
- Check NIRF ranking for your specific course, not just overall university ranking.
- Central universities offer the best value — low fees (₹3,000–15,000/year) with good education quality and degree recognition.
- Location affects career opportunities. Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune offer better internship and job access.
- Hostel availability matters. Some central universities guarantee hostel for outstation students; others have limited capacity.
- Check placement data for professional courses (B.Com., BBA, BCA). For B.A./B.Sc., focus on PG preparation quality instead.
- Apply to 8–10 universities. Since one CUET score works for all, applying to multiple universities increases your chances of getting your preferred course.

How many universities accept CUET scores?
260+ universities accept CUET scores as of 2026 — including all 45 Central Universities, many state universities, and several private universities. The number has been increasing every year since CUET's introduction in 2022. Major universities include Delhi University, JNU, BHU, Jamia Millia Islamia, Aligarh Muslim University, University of Hyderabad, and Tezpur University.
Is CUET score enough for Delhi University admission?
Yes. Since 2022, DU admissions are 100% based on CUET scores — Class 12 board marks are NOT used for merit calculation. You need CUET scores in: 1 language (Section IA), 3–4 domain subjects (Section II), and General Test (Section III, for some courses). DU calculates a merit score based on your best subject combination relevant to the course.
What CUET score is needed for top colleges?
For DU top colleges (Hindu, SRCC, LSR, St. Stephen's): 750+ out of 800 in relevant subjects. For JNU: 600+ out of 800 (varies by programme). For BHU: 650+ out of 800. For mid-tier central universities: 500–600. These are approximate — actual cutoffs depend on the course, category, and number of applicants.
Can I apply to multiple universities with one CUET score?
Yes. One CUET score is valid for all 260+ participating universities. You do not need to take separate exams. However, each university has its own admission portal and application process — you must apply separately to each university using your CUET scorecard. Some universities may also have additional criteria (interviews, portfolios for certain courses).
Which courses are available through CUET?
CUET covers admissions for undergraduate programmes including: B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., BBA, BCA, B.Ed., integrated law programmes (BA LLB), journalism, social work, and many more. Engineering (B.Tech) and medical (MBBS) are NOT through CUET — they use JEE and NEET respectively. Some universities offer B.Tech through CUET for specific branches.
Is CUET mandatory for all central university admissions?
Yes. Since 2022, all 45 Central Universities must use CUET scores for UG admissions. They cannot use Class 12 board marks as the primary criterion. Some universities may use CUET score + interview/additional criteria for specific programmes (e.g., performing arts, fine arts), but CUET score is always the primary component.
