Whether it is JEE, BITSAT, or state CETs — the syllabus is similar. Super Tutor helps you build strong Class 11–12 PCM foundations.
Start Preparation — FreeLateral Entry (After Diploma)
| Step | Details |
|---|---|
| 1. Complete Diploma | 3-year polytechnic diploma after Class 10 |
| 2. Appear for Lateral Entry Exam | State-level exams or college-specific tests |
| 3. Enter B.Tech 2nd Year | Skip 1st year — complete B.Tech in 3 years |
| 4. Total Duration | Diploma (3 years) + B.Tech (3 years) = 6 years after 10th |
Comparison: Regular path: 12th (2 years) + B.Tech (4 years) = 6 years after 10th. Lateral entry = same duration but you get 2 degrees (diploma + B.Tech) and earn earlier if needed after diploma.
Private Universities — Direct Admission
| University | Admission Based On | Avg Placement |
|---|---|---|
| LPU (Lovely Professional) | LPUNEST / Board marks | ₹4–8 LPA |
| Amity University | Amity JEE / Board marks | ₹4–7 LPA |
| Chandigarh University | CUCET / Board marks | ₹4–8 LPA |
| Sharda University | Board marks / Interview | ₹3–6 LPA |
| Bennett University | Board marks / JEE score | ₹5–10 LPA |

Can I get into a good engineering college without JEE?
Yes. Many excellent colleges do not require JEE: BITS Pilani (BITSAT), VIT (VITEEE), SRM (SRMJEEE), Manipal (MET), state government colleges (through state CETs like MHT-CET, KCET, WBJEE), and some IIITs. Placements at top private colleges like BITS, VIT, and Manipal are comparable to mid-tier NITs.
Which state entrance exams can I give instead of JEE?
Major state CETs: MHT-CET (Maharashtra), KCET (Karnataka), WBJEE (West Bengal), AP EAMCET (Andhra Pradesh), TS EAMCET (Telangana), KEAM (Kerala), GUJCET (Gujarat), UPSEE/AKTU (UP). These give admission to state government engineering colleges with fees as low as ₹50,000–1,50,000/year.
Is engineering from a private college worth it?
Depends on the college. Top private colleges (BITS, VIT, SRM, Manipal, Thapar) have excellent placements (₹8–25 LPA). Mid-tier private colleges have decent placements (₹4–8 LPA). Lower-tier private colleges may have poor placements. Research placement records before joining. Fees: ₹2–4 LPA/year for top private, ₹1–2 LPA for mid-tier.
Can I do engineering after diploma?
Yes — through Lateral Entry. After completing a 3-year diploma (polytechnic), you can enter B.Tech 2nd year directly. This skips the 1st year entirely. Available in most government and private colleges. You save 1 year compared to the regular path. Entrance: some states have lateral entry exams, others use diploma marks.
What about engineering through board marks only?
Some private universities offer direct admission based on Class 12 marks (no entrance exam). Examples: Lovely Professional University (LPU), Amity University, Chandigarh University, Sharda University. However, colleges that admit purely on board marks tend to have lower placement records. At minimum, appear for 1-2 entrance exams for better options.
Is BITSAT easier than JEE Main?
Different, not necessarily easier. BITSAT has 150 questions in 3 hours (speed-focused), covers same syllabus as JEE but includes English and Logical Reasoning. Many students find it more scoring because questions are more straightforward. BITS Pilani placements are on par with top NITs and some old IITs. BITSAT registration: bitsadmission.com.
