What is a 3D shape? Give two examples.
Answer
A 3D shape is a shape that has length, width, and height. It takes up space and has volume. Examples: cube, cylinder, sphere, cone, pyramid.
What is the difference between a prism and a pyramid?
Answer
A prism has two parallel faces of the same shape connected by rectangular faces. A pyramid has one base and all other faces are triangles that meet at one point (apex).
How many faces, edges, and corners does a cube have?
Answer
A cube has 6 faces, 12 edges, and 8 corners (vertices). All faces are squares of equal size.
What is Euler's formula for 3D shapes?
Answer
Euler's formula states that F + V - E = 2, where F = number of faces, V = number of vertices (corners), and E = number of edges.
What is a net of a 3D shape?
Answer
A net is a 2D pattern that can be folded to make a 3D shape. When you unfold a box and flatten it, you get its net.
What is an angle?
Answer
An angle is formed when two lines meet at a point. We see angles everywhere - in corners of books, doors, windows, and even in yoga postures.
What is a right angle? How can you make one?
Answer
A right angle is exactly 90 degrees. You can make a right angle checker by folding a piece of paper in half twice. Right angles are found in corners of books, windows, and doors.
What is the difference between acute and obtuse angles?
Answer
An acute angle is smaller than a right angle (less than 90°). An obtuse angle is larger than a right angle (more than 90°).
