Key Topics to Revise

1

Multiplication by 10 and Multiples of 10

  • When we multiply any number by 10, we add a zero to the right of that number
  • 2 × 10 = 20 (2 tens), 5 × 10 = 50 (5 tens), 8 × 10 = 80 (8 tens)
  • For multiplying by multiples of 10 like 20, 30, 40: first multiply by the digit, then add a zero
2

Constructing Times Tables (11-20)

  • Times tables for numbers 11-20 can be made by splitting arrangements
  • For times-15 table: split 15 into 10 + 5, then add the products
  • 5 × 15 = 5 × 10 + 5 × 5 = 50 + 25 = 75
3

Splitting and Doubling Method

  • Even numbers can be split into two equal groups for easier multiplication
  • 3 × 14 = 3 × 7 + 3 × 7 = 21 + 21 = 42 (double of 21)
  • 6 × 14 = 6 × 7 + 6 × 7 = 42 + 42 = 84 (double of 42)
4

Multiplication by 100 and Multiples of 100

  • Multiplying by 100 means adding two zeros to the right
  • 2 × 100 = 200 (2 hundreds), 11 × 100 = 1100 (11 hundreds)
  • 27 × 100 = 2700, breaking it as 20 hundreds + 7 hundreds = 2000 + 700
