Electric Cells and Batteries
- An electric cell is a portable source of electrical energy
- Every electric cell has two terminals: positive (+) and negative (-)
- The metal cap is the positive terminal, the flat metal disc is the negative terminal
Electric Lamps - Incandescent and LED
- Incandescent lamp contains a thin wire called filament that glows when heated by electric current
- Filament is supported by two thicker wires forming the lamp's two terminals
- In incandescent lamps, it doesn't matter which terminal connects to positive or negative
Electrical Circuits and Current Flow

- Current flows from positive terminal to negative terminal of the cell

- ON position: switch closes the gap, completes circuit, current flows, lamp glows
