- Electric field is force per unit positive test charge: E⃗ = F⃗/q₀
- Field exists around every charge, independent of test charge
- Direction: away from positive charge, toward negative charge
Electric Potential and Potential Difference
- Potential is work done per unit charge in bringing charge from infinity: V = W/q₀
- Potential is scalar quantity, follows algebraic addition
- For point charge: V = kQ/r
