2. Newton's Laws of Motion

  • First Law: Objects continue in their state of rest or uniform motion unless acted upon by external unbalanced force

  • Third Law: Every action has an equal and opposite reaction

  • Fundamental forces: Gravitational, Electromagnetic, Strong nuclear, Weak nuclear
  • Contact forces: Normal reaction, friction, tension (all electromagnetic in nature)
  • Non-contact forces: Gravitational, electrostatic, magnetic

4. Work-Energy Theorem and Variable Forces

  • Work by variable force: W = ∫F⃗⋅ds⃗
  • Work-energy theorem: Work done = Change in kinetic energy
  • For conservative forces: ΔPE + ΔKE = 0 (mechanical energy conserved)
