How is WBJEE rank calculated?

WBJEE rank is based on your total marks in Mathematics (75 questions, 100 marks) and Physics + Chemistry (combined 80 questions, 100 marks), giving a total of 200 marks. WBJEEB ranks candidates in descending order of total marks with tie-breaking on Mathematics marks first.

For Jadavpur University CSE, you typically need a WBJEE rank under 200 (General). For ECE, a rank under 500 is generally required. For Mechanical/Civil, ranks under 1,000-1,500 are usually sufficient. Cutoffs vary by year.

Approximately 1.2 lakh students appear for WBJEE each year. It is conducted by WBJEEB (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board) for admission to engineering, pharmacy, and architecture courses in West Bengal colleges.

WBJEE is generally considered easier than JEE Main. The syllabus is similar but questions are more straightforward. WBJEE has negative marking only for Category 2 and 3 questions, not for all questions like JEE Main. It is ideal for students targeting West Bengal colleges.
