Nature of Light and Reflection
- Light travels in straight lines in a homogeneous medium
- Objects become visible when light reflects from them and enters our eyes
- Highly polished surfaces like mirrors reflect most of the light falling on them
Spherical Mirrors
- Concave mirror: reflecting surface curves inward toward center of sphere
- Convex mirror: reflecting surface curves outward away from center of sphere

- Concave mirror can form both real and virtual images depending on object position
- Convex mirror always forms virtual, erect, and diminished images

- Light bends toward normal when going from rarer to denser medium
- Light bends away from normal when going from denser to rarer medium
