  • Together: Combined rate = Sum of individual rates
  • Alternately: Calculate work done in 2-day cycles
  • Find complete cycles first, then remaining work

Common Mistakes to Avoid

If A can do work in 10 days and B in 15 days, then together they will take (10+15)/2 = 12.5 days

In alternating work problems, if A and B work alternate days, the total time is just the sum divided by 2

Efficiency ratios directly translate to time ratios in the same direction
