Forces and Types of Forces
- Force is a push or pull that can change the state, size, or shape of a body
- Forces are classified into Contact Forces and Non-contact Forces
- Contact forces require physical contact: friction, normal reaction, tension, spring force, collision force
Moment of Force and Equilibrium
- Moment of force (torque) is the turning effect of force about an axis
- Moment depends on magnitude of force and perpendicular distance from axis
