  • Light travels in straight lines in a homogeneous medium - this is called rectilinear propagation
  • Light rays cast sharp shadows when blocked by opaque objects, proving straight-line motion

  • Reflection occurs when light bounces off a surface without entering the material
  • Angle of incidence always equals angle of reflection for all surfaces

  • They diverge parallel light rays - rays appear to come from principal focus
