Basic Concepts - Points, Lines, and Rays
- A point is a location with no dimensions, represented by capital letters (A, B, C)
- A line extends infinitely in both directions and is named using two points or a small letter
- A line segment is the shortest path between two points
Angles and Their Types
- An angle is formed by two rays starting from a common point (vertex)
- Angles are measured in degrees (°)
- Right angle = 90°, Straight angle = 180°
Pairs of Angles
- Adjacent angles share a common vertex and side
- Complementary angles sum to 90°
- Supplementary angles sum to 180°
Parallel Lines and Transversals
- A transversal intersects two or more lines at distinct points
- When a transversal cuts two parallel lines, it creates 8 angles
- Corresponding angles are equal (same relative position)
