Key Topics to Revise

1

Division of Line Segments

  • To divide a line segment internally in a given ratio m:n, we need (m+n) equal divisions on an auxiliary ray
  • The key is drawing parallel lines - one through the last point to the endpoint, another through the required ratio point
  • Always draw the auxiliary ray at an acute angle to the given line segment
2

Triangle Construction Methods

  • SSS Construction: Use compass arcs from two vertices with given side lengths
  • SAS Construction: Construct given angle first, then mark off the two sides
  • ASA Construction: Draw base, construct both angles, find intersection point
3

Special Triangle Constructions

  • Perimeter given: Use total length and half-angle bisectors
  • Sum/difference of sides: Use auxiliary point method with perpendicular bisectors
  • Median given: Construct median first, then complete triangle
4

Similar Triangle Construction

  • Scale factor = ratio of corresponding sides of new triangle to original triangle
  • Use ray method: draw ray from one vertex, mark equal divisions
  • Number of divisions = denominator of scale factor
