Key Topics to Revise

1

Classification of Numbers

  • Natural Numbers (N): 1, 2, 3, 4, ... (counting numbers used in daily life)
  • Whole Numbers (W): 0, 1, 2, 3, ... (natural numbers + zero)
  • Integers (Z): ..., -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, ... (positive and negative whole numbers)
2

Operations on Rational Numbers

  • Addition: For same denominator: p/q + r/q = (p+r)/q
  • Addition: For different denominators: p/q + r/s = (ps+qr)/(qs)
  • Subtraction follows same rules as addition with opposite operation
3

Decimal Representation

  • Every rational number has either terminating or non-terminating repeating decimal
  • Terminating decimals: denominators have only 2^m × 5^n form
  • Non-terminating repeating: denominators have prime factors other than 2, 5
4

Representation on Number Line

  • Every real number corresponds to a unique point on number line
  • Rational numbers can be located by division method
