Division of Line Segments

  • To divide a line segment internally in a given ratio m:n, we need (m+n) equal divisions on an auxiliary ray
  • The key is drawing parallel lines - one through the last point to the endpoint, another through the required ratio point
  • Always draw the auxiliary ray at an acute angle to the given line segment
