What to Focus On

  • Internal division means the point lies between the endpoints of the segment
  • Number of equal divisions on ray = sum of ratio terms
  • Use parallel line through the point corresponding to first ratio term

  • Check triangle inequality before SSS construction: a + b > c, b + c > a, c + a > b
  • In SAS, the angle must be between the two given sides
  • In ASA, the side must be between the two given angles

  • RHS applies only to right triangles - check if given measurements form valid right triangle
  • In perimeter construction, use half angles and perpendicular bisectors
  • For sum/difference problems, use properties of perpendicular bisectors

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Any angle can be used when drawing the auxiliary ray for line segment division - the angle doesn't matter at all

In triangle construction, if three sides are given, you can start with any side as base

In similar triangle construction, the number of points marked on auxiliary ray equals the scale factor denominator
