Motion and Rest - Basic Concepts

  • Motion is the continuous change in position of an object with respect to time and observer
  • Rest means no change in position with respect to time and observer
  • Motion is relative - same object can be at rest for one observer and in motion for another

Types of Motion

  • Rectilinear Motion: Object moves along a straight line (e.g., car on straight road, falling stone)
